Illustration was actually the first
media I used with Celtic art designing. As long as I have been
doing it I always tend to find that there is a lot more to learn. It has a very
strong route with calligraphy in the making of countless manuscripts, and there
are many kinds of illustration that are considered "lost art"
today. Some of these things can be saved but maybe not to the full potential
they once had.
The techniques that I have worked on
the most are wax resist (which is basically a colored scratch board) and hand
painting illustrations using, ink, casein, or egg tempera.
The block prints are
made with linoleum coated blocks that are carved and the images are printed from
these. I can do some other
little things to the prints however if you want something more unique, like
adding a different color or gold leaf for highlights. There are many possibilities
and I will try to show you some of them to give you ideas.
