Sir William Wallace

"Wallace Carving"
15 1/2" x 26"

Mixed woods both local and exotic.
In August 23rd 1305, Sir William Wallace was executed in London for treason's apparently committed to England. (they would have you believe, even though he was not even a subject of the English king)

When I went to Scotland in 2005 I learned a lot more about Wallace and his influence on the Scottish people.  To be quite frank the movie "Braveheart" does not tell the story quite as well as one might hope.  But on the other hand the movie did glorify Wallace's greatest influence of all, to unite Scotland and its people who were very often fighting amongst them selves. (The movie has some very great points and I still enjoy it)  I knew that upon my return I should make a piece in dedication to him.

I had a lot of fun with this and manly because I made the pieces larger so that they would be easier to carve, clamp and work with.
