Triad Cross

Made on consignment for a church in Mississippi, this cross is based on an earlier design, that was redrawn in a much larger scale (6 feet tall with the base) and with some overall changes to the shape.  It was made of multiple pieces of Black Walnut.  The horizontal arms are one piece, the top and bottom are another, and the arches notched in.  The base is made of three "frame like" sections that where pocket screwed and glued together before they where stacked.

The triad is the symbol in the very center of the cross.  Triads are present throughout Gaelic culture, in their mythology for example there are the three sides of women and of men.
